Mother Ivey's Bay
Mother Ivey’s Bay is one of the quieter beaches on this stretch of coast, tucked between Trevose Head and Stepper Point and reached more by footpath than convenience.
The name carries a local legend. Mother Ivey was said to be a 16th-century witch or wise woman who cursed a family of pilchard processors after they refused to feed starving villagers. Whether taken as folklore or warning, the story gives the bay a different atmosphere from the busier beaches nearby.
From above, Mother Ivey’s Bay is all shelter, clarity and curve: pale sand, blue-green water, rocks, coast path and the nearby Padstow Lifeboat Station. These aerial prints are well suited to quieter interiors, coastal bedrooms, holiday lets and anyone who prefers Cornwall’s less crowded corners.
