Rock
Rock sits on the eastern side of the Camel Estuary, looking across the water towards Padstow. From above, it is less a single beach than a shifting estuary landscape: pale sand at low tide, sheltered water, moored boats, ferry routes, tide lines and the open sweep towards Daymer Bay and Brea Hill.
The name has older roots than Rock’s polished waterfront image might suggest. Rock was once known as Black Rock, after a volcanic elvan outcrop near the ferry landing, later quarried away. The ferry across to Padstow has deep history too, with a recorded mention in 1297, carrying people across a tidal landscape shaped by channels, sandbanks and the infamous Doom Bar.
These aerial prints capture Rock’s quieter estuary character: soft sand, blue-green water, boats, movement and space. A strong choice for anyone with a connection to Rock, Padstow, the Camel Estuary, sailing, waterskiing, family holidays or the gentler side of North Cornwall.
