Booby’s Bay
Booby’s Bay is the northern end of Constantine Bay on the North Cornwall coast, a west-facing stretch of sand tucked beneath Trevose Head near St Merryn. At low tide it runs on into Constantine as one long beach; as the water rises, reefs and shelves of dark rock close it off into its own corner of sand, pools and broken surf.
The gently shelving sand and offshore reefs make it a respected surf spot for experienced surfers, and the rocks around Trevose Head have a long history of shipwrecks. The remains of the Carl, wrecked here in 1917 while under tow, lie buried in the beach and are occasionally uncovered when winter storms strip the sand. Above the bay, the South West Coast Path climbs onto Trevose Head, where the lighthouse has stood since 1847, and out towards Dinas Head.
These Cornwall Prints aerial photographs look across Booby’s Bay from above, taking in the reef and rock pools, lines of Atlantic swell, surfers waiting in the line-up and the green fields of Trevose Head beyond. Each view is available as an unframed print, framed wall art or canvas, and also appears in the Constantine & Treyarnon Bay collection.
