Cornwall Canvas Prints

A softer side of the coast.

Printed on 400gsm cotton canvas, the weave shows through and gives the photograph an almost painted look.

Each one is stretched over a 38mm wooden frame. The edges are mirrored, so none of the picture is lost round the sides.

You can see the weave.

Look at the sand and the water in the Polzeath canvas and you can pick out the texture. Detail and contrast are gentler than on paper.

If you want crisp reef lines and every detail sharp, an unframed print or a framed print will suit you better.

A photograph wrapped around canvas

The photograph is printed on 400gsm artist-grade cotton canvas and hand-stretched over a 38mm-deep frame of kiln-dried, knotless pine, with hand-folded corners. The weave shows through the photograph, giving a softer, almost painted look with gentler detail and contrast than paper. For the sharpest detail and strongest contrast, choose an unframed or framed print.

Mirrored edges repeat the outer edge of the photograph around the sides, keeping the full composition on the front. The deep sides mean no separate decorative frame is needed. The canvas is sent in a rigid double-wall box and hangs from its top bar on a picture hook or screw; hanging fixings are not included.

Choosing your canvas

Does wrapping the canvas crop the photograph?

The edges are mirrored: the outer part of the photograph is repeated around the sides, keeping the complete composition on the front face.

Does a canvas need an extra frame?

No. The canvas is stretched over a 38mm-deep wooden frame, so it stands clear of the wall without a separate decorative frame or glazing. It hangs from its top bar on a picture hook or screw; wall fixings are not included.

How does canvas differ from a framed paper print?

Canvas has a textured surface and wrapped edges, and hangs without glazing. A framed print sits behind glass or acrylic with an off-white mount and a black, oak or white frame, and shows the most detail and contrast.

How do I look after a canvas?

Hang it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators and fires. Dust it now and then with a soft, dry brush; don't use water or cleaning products on the surface. Kept like this, the inks are rated for up to 200 years on display.
