St Agnes

St Agnes sits on Cornwall’s north coast, surrounded by steep cliffs, open heathland and some of the county’s most recognisable mining remains. The coastline includes St Agnes Head, Trevaunance Cove and Chapel Porth, with St Agnes Beacon rising inland above the village.

Mining has shaped much of the landscape around St Agnes. Engine houses and other remains are still visible along the cliffs, most notably at Wheal Coates above Chapel Porth. The South West Coast Path follows this exposed stretch of coastline, linking the beaches, headlands and former mining sites. St Agnes Head is also home to a National Coastwatch lookout, which keeps watch over the surrounding coast and Atlantic waters.
