Seven Bays

The Seven Bays are my home stretch of the North Cornwall coast: Porthcothan, Treyarnon, Constantine, Booby’s Bay, Mother Ivey’s, Harlyn and Trevone. This collection brings my photographs of all seven together, from the rocks and turquoise shallows around Trescore to the broad sands at Constantine and Harlyn.

The bays sit around St Merryn, linked by the South West Coast Path. Between them are dunes, reefs, tidal pools and the headland at Trevose. Seen from above, you can follow the coast from one beach to the next, or look closely at the sand, rock and water that make each place different.

Explore the Seven Bays

Porthcothan and Treyarnon have rocky edges and sand that changes with the tide. Constantine and neighbouring Booby’s Bay open onto the Atlantic, with dunes and reef along the shore. Around Trevose Head, Mother Ivey’s, Harlyn and Trevone complete the seven, each with its own view of the coast.

One coast, through the seasons

I photograph this coast in different light and weather: clear summer days, winter surf and the first or last light across the fields. The wider aerial views show how the bays fit together, while closer photographs pick out a familiar rock, pool or stretch of beach.
